Dr. Ron M. Shefi DC came to the United States in 1964, at the age of 20 and settled in Long Beach, California. He promptly enrolled in college and started to work as a cast technician at a large orthopedic clinic, a job he held until 1979. After fifteen years and some 60,000 casts he became dissatisfied with the conventional approach to medicine and the dead-end nature of his job, grew restless and needed a change. Having been a mechanic since the age of twelve and through his military service made it natural for him to go back into repairing heavy equipment. A job injury in 1981 ultimately forced him to change careers. The unsatisfactory outcome of the conventional treatment he received for his injury made him interested in alternative medicine, and motivated him to look for answers ‘outside of the box.’ It became clear to him that a new approach to healing was urgently needed. He decided to combine his familiarity and knowledge of the mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems of every type of machine or heavy equipment with the knowledge and experience he gained while working at the orthopedic clinic, and apply them to the human body, the ultimate machine. Feeling that a conventional medical school could not provide him with the approach he was looking for, he chose to attend chiropractic school instead, where more emphasis is placed on functional anatomy and functional physiology. This knowledge, combined with constantly attending a never-ending string of seminars and the burning desire to improve the system have led him to develop a system that makes it possible for everyone to identify the cause behind every symptom, and set him on his quest to re-write medicine and to write his first book, Medicine Re-Written.
Throughout his twenty-plus years in practice, Dr. Shefi has viewed himself as a treating doctor and has looked forward to each day with passion and anticipation. He still does. He sees taking medicine ‘to the next level’ as his true calling. He dismisses claims that he has ‘gifts’ and insists they are acquired skills that can be mastered by anyone, and he joyfully and enthusiastically shares them with anyone who is willing to step outside of the ‘box.’ He credits Enerchi-Quest, a seminar taught by his classmate and colleague Dr. Randall W. Robirds DC (to whom he likes to refer as ‘the greatest doctor on the planet’) and by Dr. Russell Loveland DC, his ‘super-doc’ friends, as his turning point, which took him on a journey that is far from ending. He retired from a full-time clinical practice at the end of 2008 and relocated to Nashville, Tennessee, where he was promptly labeled 'the Walking Tricorder,' and where he continues to see patients and write. Since moving to Nashville he has authored four books, Metaphysics: The Illusive Reality of Life, Ultimate Healing: Medicine Made Easy, Spiritual Psychology, and a sci-fi book, STiLL.
In addition to his books, Dr. Shefi is a co-owner of the patent on the Parkinson Light Device, a non-invasive light therapy device that re-charges the brain and enables Parkinson patients to walk easier, improve their speech, restore normal facial expression and improves bladder function. The device also proved effective in reversing the paralysis and other related symptoms from strokes that were caused by a blood clot. Additionally, when asked, Dr. Shefi speaks and presents at various workshops.
